I met Eric Shaw around 12 years ago in Temecula. We were both on "daddy duty", sitting on small bleachers just outside our young daughters' dance lesson classroom. We hit it off right away and he's been family ever since.
I knew from that very first day that Eric was a smart, funny, committed family man who cared about his community. As I grew to know him better, I came to learn how much he loves our country and how his wholesome Midwest upbringing has informed both how he treats people and his outlook on life.
Eric is a humble servant with a big heart. He's a charismatic leader. He's an entrepreneur and a strategic thinker. And he's a great friend. He's both a man's man and a true gentleman.
I know Eric will represent the 48th District with integrity, accountability, inclusiveness and vision. He's not a career politician and he's focused on addressing the real, everyday issues we all face. He will be the champion of "the little guy" and will bring our voices with him to Washington.
I remember thinking many years ago that this guy should run for public office someday. That day has come and he's ready. I'm really glad he has decided to throw his hat in the ring. I'm proud of my friend and wish him the best of luck as he takes on this exciting, new challenge.
